Medical students are graduating with average debt of $205,000. Make the dream of a career in medicine a reality for medical students from underrepresented areas with a gift to this endowed scholarship.
A committee of dedicated volunteers is working to raise funds to establish the Diversity Recruitment Scholarship. This fund will be an important resource to attract the best African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, and other students from underrepresented populations to the IU School of Medicine.
Paying for medical school can be daunting. Tuition alone for in-state students is more than $34,000 per year. And that’s leaving out housing, food or transportation – the basic living expenses every student faces. Debt is a reality. Almost 85 percent of IU graduates rack up hefty loan amounts, which currently average over $205,000.
Through this scholarship, we can retain our most talented students. We can invest in their potential. And we can train more physicians who may consider a career caring for under-served populations. We hope you will consider joining this important initiative to improve health in Indiana and beyond.
