Sept. 27, 2017 Update: Wow! Thank you to all who donated to the Pass on Your +1 campaign! Because of your help we have decided to increase our goal by another $500. We are so thankful to all of those who support us and this increased goal goes hand in hand with the IUAAA’s commitment to excellence by serving the students at IU Auditorium. Be on the lookout for future updates!
The IU Auditorium Alumni Association was formed by a group of former student employees who wished to reconnect with the auditorium, and additionally support the auditorium in empowering students to reach their fullest potential. Through networking events and professional development opportunities, the IUAAA has been able to reconnect with generations of alumni and reintroduce them to current auditorium activities and students. Last year, the IUAAA announced the creation of the “+1 Fund,” a fund dedicated to support the initiatives and activities of the IUAAA, including scholarships to students who exemplify the +1 customer service model embodied at the IU Auditorium.
The principal of giving back to the auditorium dates back to the 1990s. In fact, there has been a student scholarship awarded to IU Auditorium student staff each year originated by Herman B Wells. Wells, an avid supporter of the IU Auditorium, began this tradition by personally funding three scholarships each year. Today, Doug Booher, Executive Director of the IU Auditorium, has continued Wells’ commitment to inspiring students by bringing world-class entertainment to the IU Bloomington campus, and selecting a scholarship recipient annually. As any “Aud Alum” will attest, Doug shares his “+1” customer service philosophy with all student employees, imparting priceless skills applicable to their professional lives beyond IU. With this tradition in mind, the IUAAA intends to continue focus on scholarships to students that carry on this stellar customer service ethic. By donating today, you can help the IUAAA support its initiatives and the students who continue to build the IU Auditorium’s fantastic legacy.
