Be a hero in the lives of liberal arts students and help them complete college. Your gift will help bridge the funding gap that can prevent students from earning a degree.
One out of every four students at IUPUI comes from a family who lives below the poverty line. For some, receiving $2,500 in additional aid can mean the difference between graduating and dropping out. The IUPUI School of Liberal Arts wants to help fill that gap so no student is left with making that decision. That’s why we established the Liberal Arts Works Scholarship and awarded two worthy students last year. A gift to the Liberal Arts Works Scholarship can help even more liberal arts students.
A liberal arts education can deliver a lifetime of personal and professional benefits, including the versatility needed to advance from career to career. For many students and their families, however, paying for a college education is more challenging than ever. “Students facing unmet financial need must make difficult choices,” said IU School of Liberal Arts Dean Thomas J. Davis. “To make ends meet they work more hours and in turn study less. They may have to incur a higher level of student loan or credit card debt and work more hours. If they’re not able to pay bills, they may eventually have to drop a class or drop out altogether.”
